Billow announces House candidacy

2 min read

Renae Billow, a lifelong resident of Johnstown, has announced her candidacy to represent the citizens of the 72nd District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

A graduate of Bishop McCort High School and of the University of Pittsburgh, Billow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in self-design with a concentration in business/sales, psychology and sociology with a minor in history.

Billow is a marketing specialist for Community LIFE and said she is passionate about her daily work with seniors. She is a pro-life conservative, who recognizes the uniqueness of every family design and said she will fight to uphold the constitution, specifically the freedom of speech and the right to keep and bear arms.

As a mother of three young children, Billow said she is deeply concerned with the loss of population in this area particularly as it pertains to recent graduates who leave to seek employment. She also recognizes the damage that has been done to local businesses due to the pandemic and vows to work with leaders to help draw in new businesses and rebuild the local economy.

Because the district is rich in natural resources, recreation and educational opportunities, Billow said she will use her marketing skills to entice employers to locate or relocate to the area.

She also wants to work with elected officials at the federal, state and local levels to improve the area's roads and highways and to help bring high speed internet to rural areas. In addition, she plans to work with leaders on improving blighted properties.

Billow and her husband, Brian Benford, have three children ages 8, 7 and 2.
