A city man faces charges after police found drugs and an improvised explosive device in his possession, court documents stated.
Brenden M. Smith, 26, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller on 43 charges, including two felony counts of unlawful possession of weapons of mass destruction and drug possession with intent to deliver.
Police were dispatched Friday for reports of two males discovered unresponsive in a shed near the 600 block of Lower Riggles Road, Antis Township.
According to a complaint, the males were transported to UPMC Altoona, and police found several stolen items and drugs in their possession.
With a search warrant, troopers discovered several weapons in the residence, including an improvised explosive device.
Police said the device, which was positively identified by the state police Hazardous Device & Explosives Section, included a tubular object with a fuse inserted into one end.
Also seized from the property were multiple packages of marijuana, jars containing marijuana wax, a bag of crystal meth, a bag containing psilocybin mushrooms, multiple packages of crystalline marijuana, buprenorphine pills and oxycodone pills.
Troopers also found several glass smoking devices, digital scales and a metal grinder, all with residue on them, according to a report.
Police spoke with Smith on Monday after he was released from treatment at UPMC Altoona, and he allegedly told officers that he had purchased all of the illicit substances Thursday and had snorted cocaine before becoming unresponsive.
Smith told police he took possession of all the illicit substances, prohibited offensive weapons and paraphernalia, court documents stated.
Smith was remanded to Blair County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 4 before Miller.
