Three siblings whose bodies were discovered in October at a Cambria County residence died from COVID-19, the Cambria County Coroner's Office announced Wednesday.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said an autopsy, toxicology and microbiology study recently conducted found that COVID-19 was the cause of death for Donald Kinsey, 62, Richard Kinsey, 70, and Ruth Kinsey, 68, whose bodies were discovered in late October at a Conemaugh Township residence.
"They were positive for COVID-19, the lungs were heavy and congested," Lees told The Associated Press. "That's what that was based on."
The results were recently received by the coroner's office and were made available to the public after family members were notified.
According to Lees, the three were discovered in different parts of a home Oct. 25 on Azurite Lane, Conemaugh Township.
Their bodies were found after authorities were called to perform a welfare check, and the trio are believed to have died about five days prior.
Donald Kinsey was found on a bed in a camper on the property; Richard Kinsey was found on a living room chair; and Ruth Kinsey was discovered on the kitchen floor.
"They were people that were sick," Lees told the AP. "Whether or not they were tested I don't know, I can't determine that at this point in time."
Lees said he also does not know their vaccination status.
