A Defiance man is facing attempted criminal homicide and other charges after an incident early Thursday morning at a Bedford County bar.

According to state police at Bedford, Brian David Taylor, 49, and a 29-year-old Wood man were engaged in a verbal altercation about 12:15 a.m. inside the Rookeez Sports Bar and Grill, 1350 Main St., Coaldale Borough.

When the two exited the building, they continued the verbal altercation outside in the parking lot, police said.

It was in the parking lot that Taylor pulled a knife and swung at the victim, severely cutting his neck, according to the report.

The victim was transported to UPMC Altoona for treatment.

Taylor was taken into custody at the scene by state police.

He was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge H. Cyril Bingham Jr. on charges including criminal attempt-criminal homicide, aggravated assault-attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of a weapon.

Taylor was remanded to the Bedford County Prison unable to post 10% of $150,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing will be held Nov. 17 at Bedford County Central Court.
