All six local counties remain in the high transmission category for COVID-19 this week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Blair County had the most new cases and the highest number of new cases per 100,000 residents -- the incidence rate -- while Bedford County had the highest test positivity and lowest vaccination rate.
There were 56 total deaths from COVID among the six local counties, with Cambria having the most deaths and Blair second most.
Centre County had the lowest incidence rate, the fewest deaths and the highest vaccination rate.
The CDC numbers (deaths are from the state Department of Health):
* Blair County: 552 new cases, up 7 percent; 453 incidence rate; 12 deaths; 12.3 percent positivity; 52 new hospital admissions; 14 percent of hospital beds used; 53 percent of ICU beds used; 53 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
* Bedford County: 186 new cases, up 36 percent; 388 incidence rate; five deaths; 20 percent positivity; 13 new hospital admissions; 32 percent of hospital beds used; 39 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
* Cambria County: high transmission; 481 new cases, down 6 percent; 369 incidence rate; 20 deaths; 9.07 percent positivity; 16 new hospital admissions; 16 percent of hospital beds used; 43 percent of ICU beds used; 58 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
* Centre County: high transmission; 262 new cases, down 5 percent; 161 incidence rate; two deaths; 6.51 percent positivity; 30 new hospital admissions; 24 percent of hospital beds used; 13 percent of ICU beds used; 61 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
* Clearfield County: high transmission; 261 new cases; up 6 percent; 329 incidence rate; seven deaths; 8.75 percent positivity; 28 new hospital admissions; 25 percent of hospital beds used; 31 percent of ICU beds used; 52 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
* Huntingdon County: high transmission; 106 new cases, down 16 percent; 234 incidence rate; 10 deaths; 5.44 percent positivity; five new hospital admissions; 16 percent of hospital beds used; 40 percent of ICU beds used; 53 percent of residents 12 and over fully vaccinated.
Transmission levels in counties are based on "incidence" rate -- the number of new cases in the past seven days per 100,000 residents -- and on the test positivity rate over the past seven days.
County transmission levels are high if the incidence rate is at least 100 or if the positivity rate is at least 10 percent.
