A free indoor walk-in COVID-19 testing is open for the general public in Centre County, according to a news release from the Department of Health. The site is available through a partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare and Centre County officials.
Testing is available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, through Oct. 31, at the Nittany Mall, Sears Auto Center, 183 Shiloh Road, State College.
No appointments are necessary and testing is open to individuals from any county who are ages 3 and older. Individuals are not required to show symptoms of COVID-19 to be tested. Patients are encouraged to bring photo identification, but one is not required to be tested. Registration will also be completed on site. The turnaround time for testing results is one to three days after testing.
The testing site is open to anyone who thinks they need a test. It is important that people who test positive, even though they may show no symptoms, isolate to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people who are fully vaccinated and have a known exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 be tested three to five days after exposure, and to wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result. The department recommends getting tested if people are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
