MARTINSBURG -- A preliminary hearing for a Roaring Spring man charged with attempted homicide was postponed.
Caleb Lee Lanzendorfer, 20, faces felony charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury, and he was to appear at 9 a.m. Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Paula M. Aigner in Hollidaysburg.
In another case, Lanzendorfer faces a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing for that case Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger.
Lanzendorfer waived under the advice of defense attorney Richard Corcoran.
"We are going to try and resolve all outstanding matters for the benefit of the defendant," Corcoran said Thursday.
According to court documents, Lanzendorfer led police on a high speed chase June 13 at the Freedom Junction on Dunnings Highway, Freedom Township.
Police accuse Lanzendorfer of recklessly passing 13 vehicles during the pursuit, placing the occupants of each vehicle "in risk of serious bodily injury or death."
The complaint stated police ended the pursuit after losing sight of Lanzendorfer's vehicle when he reached Woodbury Pike.
Police said the chase initiated after Lanzendorfer allegedly failed to ring up $32.63 worth of merchandise from the Freedom Township Walmart.
Formal arraignment for Lanzendorfer's charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer are scheduled for Oct. 15.
Lanzendorfer remains housed at Blair County Prison in lieu of $250,000 cash bail for the attempted homicide charges.
The attempted homicide charges stem from a July 17 incident in which Lanzendorfer allegedly struck and ran over a 50-year-old male on Huntingdon Pike in Frankstown Township, a separate complaint stated.
Police said a physical altercation allegedly took place between Lanzendorfer and the victim, and during the altercation, Lanzendorfer is accused of running the victim over with a gray 2010 Kia four-door sedan.
Police said Lanzendorfer fled the scene with Teri K. Brantner, 39, of Hollidaysburg, in an unknown direction on Route 22.
The two were discovered the next day in Breezewood, Bedford County, by the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Task Force, court documents stated.
Brantner faces a felony count of hindering apprehension/prosecution and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence. She is to appear for formal arraignment Oct. 15.
A new date for Lanzendorfer's preliminary hearing in the attempted homicide case has not yet been determined, officials said.
