EBENSBURG -- A familiar face to Cambria County's Human Resources department was promoted to lead the way Wednesday night.

Gina Sowers, who previously served as acting director of human resources, was appointed by the Cambria County commissioners to become its full-time director.

"Gina has been with the county for a long time and did a great job serving as acting director," Cambria County President Commissioner Tom Chernisky said. "We're excited to have her aboard."

Sowers had served in the interim following the resignation of former longtime director Brian Beppler, who left the post in April for a role as executive director at Richland Township.

Sowers will receive a salary of $70,000 as director, effective Aug. 1.

She has worked in the county's human resources department since 2009 and was named the assistant human resources director in 2016.

A resident of Ebensburg, she earned an associate degree in business management at Penn Highlands Community College in 2008.
