Police identify victim in fatal Loop accident

By Ike Fredregill 1 min read

Blair Township police identified a 38-year-old McKeesport man who died May 21 in a car accident on Loop Road.

David M. Hornfeck Jr. was heading toward Hollidaysburg when his vehicle crossed over the center line and collided with an oncoming vehicle, Blair Township Police Chief Roger White said.

"There were no skid marks, and excessive speed didn't appear to be a factor," White said. "The other driver tried to get out of the way, according to a witness account, but it all happened very fast."

No charges will be filed, because police determined Hornfeck was at fault.

The only other person involved in the collision was the 53-year-old driver of the other vehicle, who was transported to a hospital and released the same day, White said.

Hornfeck did not appear to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, and police are investigating whether he might have been driving while impaired.
