HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Meetings of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board will return to in-person public participation.
During Wednesday's committee of the whole meeting, the board approved for all future meetings, effective June 1, to be open to the public in-person at the senior high library.
"As the number of people in our area have been vaccinated, we have certainly witnessed a drop in the frequency of COVID in our schools," Superintendent Robert Gildea said.
While board members and administrators have met in person for the 2020-21 school year, the public was restricted as part of COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
Meetings were broadcast on Zoom, allowing residents to participate remotely.
Gildea said that for the remainder of the calendar year, meetings will still be available virtually for those unable to attend in person.
While members of the public previously were able to dial-in to the meeting to comment, public participation will now be limited to those attending in-person.
"You now would have to physically come to the library to participate in public comment," Gildea said.
As of now, he said the meetings will be available on Zoom, adding that any changes regarding the provider for virtual format will be announced.
