Bellwood changes graduation plans
From Mirror staff reports
BELLWOOD — As a result of Gov. Tom Wolf’s announcement that most COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted on Memorial Day, the Bellwood-Antis School District will be making a few changes to its plans for graduation.
Original plans called for each graduate to receive four tickets to the commencement exercises planned for June 2 at Memorial Stadium.
“We are still formulating the exact method for ‘opening up’ our commencement ceremony in the stadium. There will no longer be a four-ticket limit at graduation based upon the governor’s announcement earlier this week. The recommended masking and distancing will be a challenge, but I am certain that we can exceed the original ticket limit. The event will not be open to the public, but we hope to accommodate each graduate’s ticket request for friends and family to attend,” High School Principal Richard Schreier said Friday.
Schreier said if there is inclement weather June 2, the commencement exercises will be held June 3 in the stadium. In case of inclement weather June 3, the graduation ceremony will occur in the auditorium with a guest limit for each graduate.
Capacity restrictions on bars, restaurants and other businesses, as well as indoor and outdoor event gathering limits will end May 31.
