Pennsylvania State Police reported Tuesday alcohol and speed were likely factors during a single vehicle accident in January, which resulted in the death of the driver.

About 10:30 p.m. Jan. 6, state police and emergency medical personnel responded to a car wreck on Polecat Hollow Road in Catharine Township, police documents stated.

A Ford Explorer, driven by Dale A. Eger, 55, was traveling west when it left the roadway and hit a tree, police reported.

Eger was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 44-year-old passenger was transported to UPMC Altoona for treatment but later released with minor injuries.
