City man faces drug, gun charges
While investigating a trespassing complaint Wednesday at the Cedar Grove Motel, 1671 Bellemeade Drive, police arrested a city man on unrelated drug charges, court documents stated.
Michael A. Stine, 38, was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones on drug- and firearms-related charges, and he is currently detained at Blair County Prison on a $75,000 cash bail, according to court documents.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the motel’s owner flagged down a Logan Township police officer to discuss a complaint about a trespasser, police reported.
While investigating the complaint, an officer initiated an interview with two men and a woman exiting a motel room, a criminal complaint stated. A second Logan Township officer arriving at the scene recognized one of the men as Stine, who had an open arrest warrant for narcotics charges, court documents stated.
At some point, police reportedly received anonymous information about narcotics trafficking occurring in the room the individuals exited as well as information about Stine possessing a firearm, which he is prohibited from by Pennsylvania law.
The room was rented under the woman’s name, as was a vehicle the trio were walking toward, court documents stated.
Police discovered a glass methamphetamine pipe on Stine’s person and arrested him, a criminal complaint stated.
On the second male, police reported they discovered drug paraphernalia and an empty plastic bag with meth residue inside. The man was arrested, but no charges have been logged into the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania docket system for Blair County.
During an interview with police, the woman said Stine gave her two bricks of heroin, each with a bundle of 10 small plastic bags, to hide in her purse and threatened her with a handgun if she didn’t comply, police reported.
A handgun was discovered in her vehicle, and police reported she alleged it was Stine’s, who reportedly drove the car last, court documents stated.
No charges against the woman were listed in the Blair County UJS docket system on Monday afternoon.
Stine’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17 before Jones.
