Peoples seeking increase
Peoples Natural Gas Co. has filed a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to increase rates as of Oct. 1.
The company has requested an overall combined rate increase of $62.9 million per year.
If the company's entire request is approved, the total bill for a residential customer using 87 million cubic feet per year would increase from $71.14 to $80.31 per month or by 12.9%.
The proposed change is subject to examination by the PUC, which will schedule hearings to decide the proper rate level to be charged.
Peoples serves about 31,200 customers in Blair County and 736,000 customers in
18 western Pennsylvania counties and parts of West Virginia and Kentucky.
