One week after the district's elementary school students returned to school in person on a full-time basis, Tyrone Area middle and high school students will return to a full-time, in-person learning model Monday.
In a letter to families of middle and high school students, Superintendent Leslie Estep said that while the district "will still face challenges" in the spring, a transition to a full-time, in-person model can be done as a result of recent decreases in cases and hospitalizations in Blair County.
"Things are looking up," Estep said. "Things are coming together to bring the level of community transmission closer to reaching the moderate level."
The district's continued transition back to full-time, in-person instruction comes after a period of hybrid learning, which began Jan. 11 for all students.
The district's March calendar has been updated, with middle and high school students scheduled to learn virtually March 3.
In wake of the transition, Estep said precautions, including mask-wearing, must be taken.
"It is important for us to comply with these rules," Estep said.
Estep added that the district will monitor cases on a "rolling" two-week basis, closing schools for disinfection when case thresholds are reached.
"We will attempt to be as proactive as possible to avoid unexpected closures and virtual days, but please be aware that we are not always able to predict these situations," Estep said.
