Work set to resume on resurfacing project
Cottles Asphalt Maintenance LLC of Everett will resume work Monday on the first phase of a 2.7-mile pavement preservation project at Goods Lane and 58th Street, PennDOT said.
Traffic signal infrastructure work will continue. Traffic will be controlled via daylight signage and by flaggers.
Overall work on the project consists of milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, guardrail upgrades, signing, traffic signal upgrades, ADA ramps, tree trimming, the rehabilitation of two existing bridge structures and other miscellaneous construction as needed.
Work on the $3.7 million project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
Somerset commissioner will lead SAP&DC
Somerset County Commissioner Gerald Walker has been elected president of the board of the Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission.
Walker replaces Blair County Commissioner Bruce Erb, who served as president since 2019. Walker previously served as vice president.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon County Commissioner Scott Walls was elected vice president, Cambria County Commissioner Scott Hunt as secretary and Tom Luciano, Sheetz Inc. director of finance & accounting, as treasurer.
Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission’s Board of Directors consists of 19 members. They include two commissioners from each of the commission’s six constituent counties and seven at-large members.
