Police charge teen with sharing child pornography
Miller was a Tyrone Area High School student at the time of alleged incident
Police filed charges Tuesday accusing a Tyrone teenager of viewing and sharing child pornography via social media in 2019, a commonwealth criminal complaint stated.
A Tyrone Area High School student at the time of the incident, Izaiah C. Miller, 19, allegedly shared a video on Snapchat of another student scrolling through nude photos of a third student, who was underage, the Tyrone Police Department reported in court documents.
On Oct. 10, 2019, police received information about a video of a student’s nude photos circulating around Tyrone Area High School, police reported.
During an interview in 2019, the then-14-year-old victim told police another student was using her phone a few days prior, court documents stated.
The phone contained photos of the victim undressed at the ages of 12 and 13, according to police documents.
Police reported the victim said she later learned a video of the photos on her phone was shared by Miller.
Court documents state that Miller was interviewed by police at the school without being taken into custody, and that at that time, Miller confirmed seeing another student scroll through photos on the victim’s phone. Police said Miller also confirmed taking a video of a student going through the victim’s photos, then sharing the video with another student.
Police charged Miller with one count each of sexual abuse of children — disseminating images of child younger than 18 engaging in a prohibited sex act — and sexual abuse of children — viewing child pornography.
Miller’s arraignment was continued to Oct. 13 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller, who on Tuesday set bail at $20,000 unsecured.
