AASD: Student tests positive for COVID-19

DoH: Penn-Lincoln class can return to school today

The Altoona Area School District has reported a confirmed COVID-19 case at Penn-Lincoln Elementary School.

According to a district release, a parent of a student at the elementary school notified the district of the positive test Tuesday. The district contacted the state Department of Health, as is protocol.

Paula Foreman, AASD community relations director, said that parents of students in that class were contacted by phone Tuesday evening.

The release said the student’s classmates remained home Wednesday and the classroom and common areas of the building were sanitized and disinfected. The DoH investigated and determined the class can return to school today, and all other students and staff can proceed with activities within the building.
