HARRISBURG -- The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a bill to support Pennsylvania's network of community-based nonprofit organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the bill's sponsor, Sen. Judy Ward, R-Blair, said.
Senate Bill 1314 would create the Nonprofit Economic Emergency Delivery System Grant Program with $200 million from the state's share of funding from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
The competitive grant program would provide a lifeline for the more than 8,500 nonprofit organizations that provide human services, including childcare centers, domestic violence centers, early intervention service providers, food banks, career training institutions and organizations serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Under the program, maximum allowable grants would not exceed $500,000 per eligible nonprofit organization.
The bill was sent to the full Senate for consideration.
