Police: Woman found with hundreds of heroin packets

An Altoona woman awaiting trial on felony drug charges is back in jail after a traffic stop allegedly turns up hundreds of packets of heroin.
Audry R. Behe, 32, was arrested Monday after the car she was driving was pulled over on the 200 block of 25th Street and 330 packets of heroin, along with methamphetamine, pills and $441 in cash were found by officers, according to Altoona police.
About 6 p.m., Behe was clocked driving 41 mph in a 25 mph zone on the 300 block of 22nd Street in a borrowed Hyandai Tiberon by Altoona police working an aggressive driver detail.
Police said Behe was already on the phone with the car’s owner when police approached her car. When it was learned she had an outstanding warrant out of Butler County, Behe seemed to try to stall police until the owner of the car arrived.
Officers became suspicious when Behe insisted she leave her cellphone and a backpack that was sitting on the front seat with the owner of the car, according to Altoona police. This was compounded when the owner of the car refused to tell police how she knew Behe but said she has only known her for a short period of time.
Police said after Behe was searched by a female Penn State Altoona police officer, officers searched the car. A rubber container containing cotton swabs used for taking heroin was in view on the passenger-side floor as well as a torch.
The 330 packets of heroin, methamphetamine, 26 clonazepam pills, one alprazolam pill, $441 in cash, packaging materials and other paraphernalia were found in the backpack, and in the center console officers located four small plastic bags of heroin.
Behe was arrested by Allegheny Township police in late March 2019 after police allegedly found her with heroin, methamphetamine and cash during a traffic stop, and in December she was charged by summons with a misdemeanor drug charge. She is currently out on $25,000 cash bail and awaiting trial.
Behe is charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance along with misdemeanor counts of drug and drug paraphernalia possession.
Bail was set at $100,000 by Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio on Tuesday morning. Behe remains in Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing on Aug. 26.
