This year's Fourth of July Freedom Ride has been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We'd love to be out there together as a #bikegang, but we're just too big and want to keep everyone safe while following the social distancing guidelines," organizers said in a release.
The 10th official Freedom Ride will return July 4, 2021.
Bicyclists are urged to go for a solo or family ride on July 4 and tag their photos with @freedomrideusa on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
The organization is still working on projects with the Van Zandt VA Medical Center and finding ways to honor veterans. Freedom Ride recently funded hotel stays for two veteran workers at a local VA after they volunteered to work at another VA with COVID-19 patients. Organizers are also working to provide laptops for vets so they can stay in touch with family, complete medical claims and build resumes in the Freedom Ride Technology Center, a release stated.
Those already registered for the ride can roll over the registration to the 2021 ride or receive a refund. Email freedom
