Hollidaysburg man charged

Woodson accused of patronizing a prostitute, robbery

A Hollidaysburg man faces felony charges after police say he forced a prostitute to perform a sexual act and then robbed her at an Allegheny Township motel.

Steven L. Woodson, 53, told police he never threatened the woman and that she had owed him for crack cocaine he had bought for her, according to charges filed by Allegheny Township police.

It all started March 7 when Woodson contacted the woman through the Internet and she agreed to have sex with him for $80. They met at the motel at about 8 p.m., had sex and he paid with $50 and some crack cocaine, the woman told police.

Woodson left about 10:30 p.m. and they texted each other throughout the night into the next day. About 6:30 a.m., Woodson texted her, told her he had some crack rocks and offered to “turn her on,” police noted in the charges.

The woman told police she told Woodson she would chip in if he wanted to get some more crack. Woodson agreed, bought some more crack and texted her to say he was on his way and that now they had two different kinds of crack, according to police.

The woman was with another man, so Woodson waited outside the motel until he left, police said.

Police indicated that the woman claimed that when Woodson arrived, he smoked some of the crack, took some of her cigarettes off a nightstand and when he turned around, he had pulled his pants down and was holding a knife.

Police allege Woodson held the knife against the woman and forced her to perform oral sex on him. The woman told police that Woodson held the knife against her and she ultimately stopped and told Woodson she couldn’t continue.

Woodson allegedly told her he was taking her money and, after she gave him $60 and told him the rest of her money was in the trunk of her car, Woodson took her keys and cellphone and walked outside to retrieve the cash. Police said Woodson grabbed another $60 from the trunk of the car, returned to the room, gave the woman her keys and phone and then left.

The woman called 911 just after 9 a.m., after Woodson drove away, and gave police a description of what he was wearing as well as the license plate number of his black-colored Audi.

When police found the Audi on Route 764 and pulled over Woodson, he admitted he had just left the motel but denied robbing anyone, according to police.

Police said Woodson showed officers the text messages where the woman said she would give him money if he went and bought cocaine and, when asked if he had any money on him, police noted Woodson had $60 in one pocket and $60 in another.

Police said Woodson’s story changed during the investigation with Woodson saying on the morning he was pulled over and detained that he had paid for sex with the woman and got drugs for her, but he didn’t threaten her with a knife.

Police said no knife was found when Woodson’s car was searched, and he didn’t have one on him.

It was at this time police drove to the motel to talk to the woman and as she was telling her story to one of the officers, another officer found an 8-inch chef knife in the grass next to a pine tree at one end of the motel, near where cars would drive to get to where the woman’s room was located.

Police said the woman identified it as the knife Woodson had with him and when police tracked down Woodson at his home, he allegedly gave police a different story after he was confronted with the existence of the knife.

Woodson allegedly admitted he did have the knife and had taken it into the motel room, but he had set it on the nightstand.

Woodson said he ditched the knife because the woman was “whacked out on meth” and he knew she would accuse him of something, police wrote in the charges.

Woodson was charged last week, and on Friday he turned himself in for arraignment on charges of felony robbery and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion as well as misdemeanor counts of theft, receiving stolen property and patronizing a prostitute.

Woodson was released on an unsecured $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Matt Dunio on

April 30.
