Local student places in contest

Ada Stapleton, an eighth grader at Huntingdon Area Middle School, captured second place honors in the seventh and eighth grade competition of the Spotted Lanternfly Calendar Contest at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Entries came from 87 schools/groups and 32 homeschoolers.

Locals show grand champions

Jason Heeter from Jomill Farm of Huntingdon County showed the grand champion Ayrshire and Eion Snider from Snider Homestead Farm of Bedford County showed the grand champion Guernsey in the dairy cow competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Pennsylvania is second nationally in the number of dairy farms, with 485,000 head of cattle on 6,200 farms, seventh in the nation in total milk production, and second in butter and Swiss cheese production.

Lankey captures breeding awards

The grand champion percentage doe, Singles You Up, was exhibited by Alyvia Lankey of Spring Valley Show Goats in Bedford in the meat goat breeding show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Lankey also exhibited the reserve grand champion percentage doe, junior division champion percentage doe, yearling division champion percentage doe and senior division champion percentage doe.
