A Huntingdon County man is dead after a three-vehicle crash on Route 453 just south of Tyrone.

James Tschudy, 63, of Mount Union was killed Tuesday when the vehicle he was traveling in was sent over an embankment on Route 453 in Snyder Township near Ironville Road about 12:15 p.m., Blair County Coroner Patricia Ross said Tuesday night.

Ross said Tschudy was traveling with his son, who was taken to UPMC Altoona with serious injuries, when their vehicle was struck and knocked over the embankment when a southbound tractor-trailer lost control, crossed the center lines and hit another truck.

Route 453 was closed between Quarry Road and Hundred Springs Road for several hours after the crash.
