State grant money will add stream buffers
Local watersheds awarded $50,000 for conservation
HARRISBURG --- Two grants awarded by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will help protect local water quality and prevent run-off pollution, according to state Sen. Judy Ward, R-Blair.
A $50,000 award to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will support the construction of about 14 acres of riparian forest buffers along waterways in the Juniata, Potomac and West Branch Susquehanna river watersheds, including locations in Blair, Fulton and Huntingdon counties.
A $71,600 grant to ClearWater Conservancy of Central PA Inc. will support construction of about eight acres of riparian forest buffers along waterways in the Susquehanna River Watershed in Centre and Huntingdon counties.
