Claysburg man faces drug, gun charges

Hileman accused of threatening officers; allegedly had stolen gun, meth in car on school property

A Claysburg man faces a list of charges stemming from an incident outside the Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary School in early April where police allegedly found a stolen gun and methamphetamine inside his car.

Joshua A. Hileman, 33, of 141 Feathers Court, Claysburg, was arraigned Wednesday on felony and misdemeanor drug and gun charges along with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, ethnic intimidation and terroristic threats.

According to charges filed by Greenfield Township police Officer Brittany J. Diehl, who serves as a school resource officer, Hileman was seated in the car in the elementary school’s parking lot while his girlfriend had taken Hileman’s child inside about 10:30 a.m. on April 3.

Police said Hileman and his girlfriend, Brooke McGeary, 25, were both wanted on warrants and that Hileman became extremely angry and started yelling profanities after Officer Diehl approached him and was checking his name with Blair County 911.

Other officers were called to the school to assist, and because Hileman became combative, officers handcuffed him and removed him from school property.

Police said Hileman refused to comply with police and resisted being handcuffed and as he was driven to the Greenfield Township Police Department, he allegedly threatened officers.

“I’m going to kill you and your family,” Hileman allegedly told Greenfield Township police Chief Ronald Sharkey.

Police said Hileman continued to make threats and at one point told cops to take off his handcuffs so he could “kick our asses,” police noted in the charges.

Police said Hileman also told McGeary, “You know what you have to take care of in the car, right?” to which she allegedly said, “Yes.”

It was then that Blair County Sheriff’s deputies arrived to take Hileman into custody for the outstanding bench warrant and Hileman began berating one of the deputies, who is black, calling the woman the N-word and referring to her as a “monkey.”

When he was searched, he allegedly told the officers, “I hope you all die in the line of duty.”

When Hileman’s 2004 Chrysler was searched, officers allegedly found two small bags of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale and a stolen Taurus PT740 handgun.

Police said Hileman had to be secured in the back of the sheriff’s vehicle because he violently kicked the door from the inside. McGeary was taken by state constables for her warrant, police added.

Hileman was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and he remains in Blair County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is slated for May 16.
