An Altoona man faces charges after police say he bit his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at an Allegheny Township hotel.
Eugene I. Ehredt, 27, of 478 Clover Lane, was taken into custody by Allegheny Township police early Sunday at the Altoona Grand Hotel after officers were dispatched at 1 a.m. to find Ehredt with blood on his hands and his girlfriend with several injuries, including a fingernail that was torn off and multiple bruises and bite marks.
Ehredt denied assaulting his girlfriend and claimed she had jumped on his back and started hitting him and that he injured his hand when he slammed it in a car door.
The girlfriend told police Ehredt knocked her to the ground several times and that he hit and bit her. Police said the woman had a bite mark on her right arm as well as her left thigh.
She said Ehredt did have a red mark on his face and neck and the woman had a torn-off fingernail and swollen knuckles from trying to defend herself.
Ehredt was drunk, police noted.
Ehredt is charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary counts of harassment and public drunkenness.
He posted $25,000 bond after his arraignment Sunday and is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Steve Jackson on Thursday.
