A Huntingdon County man shot and killed his girlfriend Monday evening before taking his own life, state police confirmed.

Mark Lemin, 33, killed his 20-year-old girlfriend before killing himself, according to a state police news release.

State police troopers from Huntingdon and Bedford counties responded about 7:10 p.m. to a home at 2303 Sawdust Drive, Saxton, where "a shooting incident" was reported.

Troopers had to force their way into the home, where they found that both Lemin and his girlfriend, Kayla Ruby, had been shot to death.

"Through investigation, it was discovered that Mark Lemin shot his girlfriend, Kayla Ruby, and then a short time later shot himself," police wrote in the release.

A state police forensics unit processed the scene.

Lemin and Ruby lived together at the Sawdust Drive home, police said.

The release does not include information about what circumstances led to the alleged murder-suicide.

On Tuesday, a message left for the Huntingdon County coroner was not returned by early evening.

A state police spokesman, just before he was leaving for the day, returned a call from a Mirror reporter, who was on another line at the time. The reporter returned the call a few minutes later but was unable to make contact.
