HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Blair County is establishing a school zone with speed restrictions near a private school in the southern portion of the county.
The school zone, with a speed limit of 15 miles per hour from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. and from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., will apply to County Road 104, extending 800 feet west and 800 feet east of the driveway to Shady Grove School.
In addition, the same resolution that establishes the school zone also calls for the posting of maximum speeds, ranging between 25 and 35 miles per hour, on portions of select county-owned roads. It also calls for the posting of stop signs at select intersections.
Commissioners took the action based on a recommendation and study by Keller Engineers to address a PennDOT request for safety improvements.
