Mamie’s Cafe and Bakery expands with franchise location in Bedford

BEDFORD — Mamie’s Cafe and Bakery has expanded with its first franchise slated to open this summer at 113 West Pitt St., Bedford. Taylor Wahl, 24, signed on this week with Mamie’s owner and founder Karen Leidy Wyland to operate the franchise in her historic downtown building that once housed the Hurry Sundown bar. Wahl purchased the 220-year-old building while still a junior at Saint Vincent College. UK regulator: X promises terrorism, hate crackdown

LONDON — Elon Musk’s social media platform X has pledged to crack down on hate and terrorist content in Britain, the country’s media regulator said Friday. Ofcom said X’s public commitments include restricting access in the U.K. to accounts operated by or on behalf of terrorist groups that the country has banned. Markets drop worldwide as oil prices rattle bond market

NEW YORK — The U.S. stock market fell from its records Friday and joined a worldwide drop for stocks after higher oil prices sent a shiver through the bond market.
