New hires and promotions
Cierra Horton has joined Keller Engineers Inc.'s Transportation Construction Inspection team. Horton has nearly five years of experience in the transportation construction inspection industry. Most recently, she worked on a variety of Highway Occupancy Permit projects, managing inspection activities and documentation in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation requirements. She also contributed to the
Pennsylvania Turnpike's cashless tolling initiative, overseeing the inspection of directional boring and trench/backfill of electrical conduit and installation of associated electrical items.
Awards and honors
A.C. Stickel, Blair County Controller, was recently elected Secretary of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Controllers at the Association's Annual Meeting.
As secretary, Controller Stickel serves on the Executive Committee of the Association. which meets to develop the educational and legislative priorities for the Association based on direction from the membership.
Richard M. Serbin, an Altoona attorney, has been named to the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs.

Joel N. Myers, the founder of AccuWeather and its executive chair, has been named to the Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame Class of 2026 for pioneering innovations that grew from central Pennsylvania and transformed how weather information is delivered around the world.
The induction places Myers among broadcasting's most influential figures. Since 1991, the Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame has honored nearly 500 executives, personalities, and programs whose work shaped the media industry.

Dr. Bill Schroeder of Schroeder Low Force Chiropractic is celebrating his 30th anniversary practicing Chiropractic in Altoona.
In the past 30 years, Schroeder, a native of Altoona, was awarded The Young Emerging Business Award, from the Blair County Chamber of Commerce in 1999. He was featured as the lead story, and was on the cover of Chiropractic Economics Magazine in September of 2003, and was named one of America's Top Chiropractors several times.
