Richard Bukoski has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor, Communication & Media Studies at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
Bukoski began his career with Pennsylvania Highlands as a full-time faculty member in August 2013. He was previously employed as News Director and Copywriter at Forever Broadcasting in Johnstown. He teaches courses in Communication Studies and Media Production.
Laura Gaunt has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, Healthcare Professions at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College
Gaunt began her full-time career with Pennsylvania Highlands in August of 2019. She teaches courses in Health Sciences.
Robin Hughes has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor, Mathematics at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
Hughes began her career with Pennsylvania Highlands as a full-time faculty member in January of 2014. She teaches courses in Mathematics and serves as an ACE Faculty Liaison.
Riley Holsinger has been promoted to Sports Director at WTAJ-TV where he will lead the station's sports coverage across broadcast, digital and streaming platforms.
In his new role, Holsinger will oversee WTAJ's sports department while continuing to deliver the local sports coverage viewers have come to trust. He will also take a leading role in the station's extensive Pittsburgh Steelers coverage as part of Black & Gold Nation, WTAJ's year-round Steelers brand that provides fans with in-depth reporting, analysis and exclusive content.
Gregory Paonessa, Assistant Professor, Computer Technology has been granted tenure at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
Paonessa began his career with Pennsylvania Highlands in August 2019. He teaches courses in Computer Programming, Software Development, and Project Management.
Emily Fein has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, which includes Blair County.
She will officially begin serving in the role on Aug. 3 succeeding Patricia A. Burkart, who is retiring after a 23-year career in Girl Scouts.
Fein joins Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania with nearly
16 years of leadership experience in Girl Scouts, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. During her tenure, she advanced innovative strategies that inspired girls to explore STEM careers through hands-on, real-world experiences.
Timothy Custer has joined East Freedom Surgical Associates as Director of Operations.
Custer brings more than
10 years of organizational leadership experience across behavioral health, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and medical research. His diverse healthcare background and commitment to operational excellence will help support the continued growth and success of the surgical center.
Heather Ross has joined East Freedom Surgical Associates as Director of Nursing. Ross brings more than 15 years of nursing management experience and healthcare management in both medical and substance use disorder treatment settings. Her extensive clinical expertise and leadership experience will further strengthen the center's commitment to patient-centered care.
Awards and honors
Michael J. Pennington, senior associate director of Penn State Career Services, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Association of University Administrators, a national organization dedicated to supporting higher education leaders across a range of institutional types and administrative roles.
Pennington will serve a two-year term through June 30, 2028.
At Penn State, Pennington helps lead Career Services' efforts to prepare students for lifelong career success through career education, employer engagement and experiential learning opportunities. Career Services, a unit in the division of Student Affairs, supports students as they explore career pathways, gain professional experience and develop the skills needed to navigate an evolving workforce.
Kenneth J. Horoho Jr., a partner and Chair of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP's Family Law Practice Group, has been elected President of the Board of Directors for Neighborhood Legal Services for the 2026-27 term.
A longtime advocate for the legal profession and access to justice, Horoho will help guide the organization's governance and strategic direction as Neighborhood Legal Services celebrates its 60th anniversary. Founded in 1966, NLS provides high-quality civil legal services to low-income and vulnerable individuals and families throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Horoho is a Johnstown native and a graduate of Saint Francis University.
