Briefcase: Penn Highlands adds dental hygiene diploma

JOHNSTOWN
Pennsylvania Highlands Community College has announced the addition of a Pre-Health Professions: Dental Hygiene Diploma, a 32-credit program scheduled to begin with the Fall 2026 semester.
The program was developed in direct response to regional workforce needs, offering students an affordable pathway into a high-demand healthcare field close to home.
The diploma was created to serve as a dedicated pipeline into Pitt’s new Regional Training Center-Hybrid Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene Degree Track, scheduled to launch in Fall 2027. Students who complete the diploma will satisfy the prerequisites required to apply to the Pitt program, as well as similar dental hygiene and related health profession programs.

Giant Co. announces grants
The Giant Company, known locally as Giant and Martin’s, in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, announced the 21 recipients of its 2026 Healing the Planet grant program. A total of $100,000 was given to support projects across the company’s operating areas in Pennsylvania.
ClearWater Conservancy of State College and Goshen Township, Clearfield County, were among those receiving the grants.
Since 2021, Giant has partnered with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful to offer more than $1.4 million in Healing the Planet grants.

FNB recognized
F.N.B. Corporation, along with its largest subsidiary First National Bank, announced it has been named to the inaugural America’s High Growth Companies list from Business Insider for 2026, recognizing FNB’s ability to achieve sustainable growth and maintain strong financial performance.
The ranking evaluated 3,000 companies across four pillars: financial performance, profitability growth, investor value and stability. The 500 highest-scoring companies were named to the list, which was created in partnership with the research firm Plant-A Insights Group.
