Academy Sports + Outdoors, a leading full-line sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer, will open its first store in Altoona at 415 Orchard Ave. in June.

The 42,350-square-foot store brings a wide assortment of sports and outdoors merchandise to the area and will be its third location in Pennsylvania.

The new Academy Sports + Outdoors store will carry a wide assortment of sports and outdoors products for customers to choose from to kickstart their fun.

This location is expected to bring an estimated 60 new jobs to the community.

Originally founded in 1938 as a family business in Texas, Academy has grown to more than 300 stores across 21 states and counting.

Eat’n Park unveils new look

The Altoona Eat’n Park is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a fresh new look. The restaurant recently completed an extensive remodel.

Originally opened in 1986, the renovated restaurant is designed to optimize the guest and team member experience for dine-in and takeout.

In addition to modern finishes, fixtures, decor and colors throughout the restaurant, a fully remodeled lobby features updated takeout shelves for convenient order pickup alongside a new bakery case.
