Miscellaneous

Chris Burlingame, Mount Aloysius College peer tutoring coordinator and adjunct professor, has published his first book, analyzing popular authors like Chuck Palahniuk, Irvine Welsh and others.

The book, titled “Adapting Transgressive Fiction to Film: Sharpening the Critical Edge with a Golden Age,” refines the work Burlingame did for his Ph.D. dissertation and argues that sociopolitical trends in the late 1990s enabled a golden age of book to film adaptations that employed a range of techniques to promote empathy for “undesirable” characters. The book is published by Bloomsbury Academic Press.
