UGI bills going up slightly
UGI Utilities Inc. has announced a smaller-than-expected increase in the purchased gas cost rate beginning on Dec. 1. As a result, the average residential heating customer receiving gas supply from UGI will see their total bill increase 0.9%, raising their total average monthly bill from $118.43 per month to $119.49 per month.
Utilities are required by law to pass the cost of the natural gas they purchase directly through to customers without any markup.
UGI Utilities Inc. is a natural gas and electric utility company that serves more than 760,000 customers.
Dutch’s Hauling sold
Dutch’s Hauling has been sold to Burgmeier’s Hauling Inc.
“It has been a privilege to serve this community for many years. I want to personally thank all of you who have been customers with us. I chose Burgmeier’s to sell my business to because I believe they will continue to provide the quality service that you expect. I’m sure you’ll be in good hands with them,” owner Dutch Fornari said in a post on Dutch’s Facebook page.
Fornari said Burgmeier’s will keep his customers’ rates the same, any credit with Dutch’s will be honored and collection days will stay the same.

AmeriServ makes donation
AmeriServ Bank has donated $5,000 to the Windber-based Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center as part of its annual October account opening campaign. The donation will help fund the Center’s Pink Ribbon Care, a program that assists patients who are unable to pay for breast-related health services including mammograms, follow-up diagnostic services and genetic counseling.
Since introducing its account opening campaign in 2020, AmeriServ Bank has donated $30,000 to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center.
