Texas Roadhouse treats veterans, active military

Texas Roadhouse will continue its annual Veterans Day tradition of treating veterans and active U.S. military to enjoy a free meal.

Today, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., every Texas Roadhouse location will distribute meal vouchers. Proof of service is required and includes military or VA card or discharge papers.

Vouchers can be redeemed through May 31, 2026, for one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/iced tea or coffee. Offers may vary by location.

Juniata leads effort to improve rural health

Juniata College has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration to fund a strategic planning project, Rural Communities Collaborative: Building a Cross-Sector Health Network to Improve Health Outcomes.

Rural Communities Collaborative is a Huntingdon County-wide project that builds upon work completed through previous AmeriCorps VISTA projects and community-engaged learning projects at Juniata.

The rural health network is designed to strengthen health care access, quality and outcomes in the county, which is facing population decline, provider shortages, transportation barriers and an aging population.

Giant Co. donates turkeys in several communities

The Giant Co. will donate nearly 20,000 turkeys and turkey breasts to 35 food banks and community partners in the Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia communities it serves this November. The donation will provide nearly 200,000 individual servings of protein ahead of Thanksgiving.

Over the next several weeks, The Giant Co. team members will volunteer at the local food banks, packing hunger relief boxes and helping to organize and restock pantry shelves.

Customers are also invited to join the effort to eliminate hunger in local communities. From Nov. 14-27, customers can donate their free turkey certificates at the register in-store to a local food bank.
