U.S. Renal Care has been helping people with kidney disease for 25 years.

Headquartered in Plano, Texas, U.S. Renal Care partners with nephrologists across 32 states in the U.S. to care for more than 36,000 people living with kidney disease. Since 2000, U.S. Renal Care has been a leader in clinical quality, innovation and operational excellence — delivering the best experience and outcomes for its patients.

U.S. Renal Care opened its Altoona facility at 118 E. Chestnut Ave. in 2011.

Wendy Wiles, group facility administrator, said the trust placed in the organization over the years is very meaningful and it feels “incredibly rewarding” to serve the Altoona community.

“We wanted to give local families another choice for the life-sustaining dialysis treatments they need,” she said. “Our goal has always been to make sure people in this community have access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home.”

U.S. Renal Care is always aiming to deliver the highest quality care for people living with kidney disease by partnering with top nephrologists to give every patient the personalized care and support they deserve, according to William Henderson, regional vice president of operations.

The center offers various kidney treatment options, including in-center or home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplants.

“Each option depends on a patient’s lifestyle and medical needs, and we help patients understand which is right for them,” Henderson said. “Our role is to educate patients about all available treatment options and support them in choosing — and successfully managing — the approach that works best for them.”

Most patients come to the center via referrals, whether it be from a nephrologist or a primary care provider.

“We also work with local hospitals to ensure a smooth transition of care for anyone starting dialysis,” Henderson said.

U.S. Renal Care is deeply rooted in its communities.

“In Altoona, and across the country, our teams volunteer locally, support awareness events, and partner with organizations that help improve the lives of people with kidney disease,” Wiles said. “We have an exceptional team that truly cares about our patients and one another. That sense of compassion and teamwork makes all the difference.”

Henderson said patients are always complimenting the doctors and staff at the center, adding that the organization prioritizes a “patient-centered approach” to make the center feel like family.

“We’re known for our strong partnerships with nephrologists, our commitment to clinical quality, and the personalized care our teams provide every day — treating each patient with empathy and respect,” he said. “I am incredibly proud of our care teams and the dedication they show in making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients every single day.”

Henderson sees a bright future for U.S. Renal Care.

“As kidney care evolves, we’ll continue to invest in our team, our technology and the patient experience to meet the community’s needs for years to come,” Henderson said.
