BELLWOOD -- A small ownership group led by Joe Russo and Vince Solimando has purchased Irvin's On Main in Bellwood in hopes of relaunching the fast casual restaurant with "some fresh paint, but the same smiles," according to Becky Russo.
The previous owner approached Joe Russo and Solimando, his long-time friend and business partner, earlier this year, Becky Russo said, hoping to sell the business in order to seek another direction in their professional career.
According to Russo, the new owners hope to "freshen it up" while maintaining the core staff and feel of the original Irvins.
The new ownership represents a "continuation" of the Main Street restaurant, not an abrupt change of direction, she said.
The eatery will be named "Mainstreet Grille" and is slated to open by the second week of August, Russo said. The eatery is currently undergoing renovation work to bring it up to date.
Mainstreet Grille will feature the same fast casual mixed menu with dine-in and take-out options, she said, and will retain the ice cream counter offering both soft serve and Penn State Creamery ice cream.
Russo said that her husband and his business partner plan to expand the current menu with new daily specials and limited-time offerings.
The Russos own a number of other businesses in the hospitality sector across Blair County, she said, and hope to leverage that experience into a successful Mainstreet Grille.
"We're really excited for what's to come," Russo said.
