New hires and promotions
Tawana Scott recently joined Mutual Benefit Group, serving as vice president for commercial lines product management.
Scott graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in business administration. She also holds the professional designations of chartered property casualty underwriter, associate in commercial underwriting and associate in reinsurance.
Tom Coyne recently joined Mutual Benefit Group as the vice president of personal lines product.
Coyne joins the Mutual Benefit Group with a wide range of experiences gathered over 30 years in the property and casualty insurance business. More recently, he served as the CUO and head of insurance at two start-up operations, before joining Mutual Benefit Group.
Cody Becker and Elijah Sechler have joined P. Joseph Lehman Inc. Consulting Engineers, Duncansville, full time as designer 1 engineers.
Becker, an Altoona native, will be working in Lehman's highway department. He received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering in 2023 from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and earned a master of science degree in engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Sechler, a native of Berlin, will be working in Lehman's bridge department. He recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Elijah recently had been working part time for Lehman Engineers while he completed his college education.
Awards and honors
Steve and Patricia Benkovic of State College recently received Kish Bank's Humanitarians of the Year Award.
Called Penn State's "first couple of chemistry" for more than five decades of pioneering contributions in their shared discipline to address threats to human health, the Benkovics' Research Initiative is a funding mechanism designed to directly support fresh, bold research projects at the interface of chemistry and the life sciences.
Carolyn Donaldson, vice president for community engagement, recently received Kish Bank's Community Impact Award, an award given annually to a Kish employee for their outstanding volunteering efforts,
Donaldson was recognized for serving her central Pennsylvania community by volunteering over 200 hours each year serving on boards and committees, including the Central PA Festival of the Arts, the Altoona Symphony, Special Olympics PA and as a trustee for Mount Aloysius College in Cresson.
