Sheetz For the Kidz kicks off
Sheetz For the Kidz campaign kicked off on Sunday. During December, customers at Sheetz stores can support local families in need by making a donation at check-out through donation boxes or adding donations to their purchase at the point of sale.
In 2023, customers raised more than $1.7 million for children in need through in-store fundraising in July and December.
In partnership with Make-A-Wish, funds raised during the campaign also sponsor the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The charity sponsors one child per Sheetz operating district, totaling 78 children this year.
Sheetz For the Kidz also partners with Feeding America to provide food to children in need. In 2024, their $782,000 commitment served over 1.7 million meals through backpack programs, kids cafes, school and mobile pantries and summer feeding programs.
UGI rates going up
UGI Utilities Inc. is announcing a purchased gas cost rate increase on Dec. 1. As a result, the average residential heating customer receiving gas supply from UGI will see their bill increase 8.7%, raising the average monthly bill from $95.40 per month to $103.69 per month.
Utilities are required by law to pass the cost of the natural gas they purchase directly through to customers without any markup.
“UGI continues to work to find the lowest cost supply options for our customers. This increase reflects the general rise in wholesale natural gas supply prices,” said Paul Szykman, Chief Regulatory Officer.
“Despite this increase, natural gas continues to be a clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy choice for homes and businesses.”
