Spring House Grille to close its doors after sale

From Mirror staff reports

ROARING SPRING — The Spring House Grille Restaurant, 7664 Woodbury Pike, has closed its doors.

The business owned by Amy Ritchey and Nancy Brumbaugh first opened as a Dog n’ Suds Restaurant in the late 1960s and underwent several ownership and name changes over the years.

Ritchey and Brumbaugh had owned the business since 2007.

Ritchey said the restaurant did not close during the COVID-19 pandemic but staffing had become a problem after the pandemic as many people didn’t return to the food service industry.

“We decided it was the right time to retire. We had an offer to buy the building and the land,” Ritchey said in an email. “The economy was one factor in the decision to sell but there were other factors too. We have been dedicated to the Spring House Grille for 17 years and we just felt it was the right time in both our lives to retire from this business.”

Pediatric Health Care Associates will be the new owners of the property.

“We were disappointed that we couldn’t sell it as a restaurant but feel it will be a great place for a pediatrician’s office,” Ritchey said.

Brumbaugh, former owner of the Creekside Inn, has been in the restaurant business for 50 years and plans to retire to enjoy family time and travel with friends.

Ritchey, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a master’s degree in secondary counseling, plans to take a few months off and then look for a position in the counseling field again.

“This was the definition of a family-owned and run business,” Ritchey said.

Pediatric Health Care Associates, which is currently practicing at the Nason pediatric office, will be moving their offices to the new location following renovations. All patients from Nason Pediatrics will be transferred to the new office and the practice will be accepting new patients.

Starting at $2.99/week.
