First Commonwealth Bank receives Excellence Award
First Commonwealth Bank received a 2023 Greenwich Excellence Small Business Banking Award for overall satisfaction in the Northeast. Coalition Greenwich is a global provider of strategic benchmarking, analytics and insights to the financial services industry.
Honorees of a Greenwich Excellence Award for Small Business Banking "stand out for their ability to combine high quality day-to-day service, innovative digital banking tools and insights that help optimize business performance," according to Coalition Greenwich.
Coalition Greenwich evaluated the small business banking platforms of more than 500 banks. Of these, only 39 have the distinctive quality required to win a Greenwich Excellence Award. Awards are based on more than 15,000 interviews with businesses with sales of $1 million to $10 million across the country.

MBG agency partners recognized for '23 results
Seven of Mutual Benefit Group's independent agency partners have qualified for Inner Circle based on 2023 results.
Jack M. Shuck Agency Inc., Huntingdon, is the only local agency on the list. Shuck was recognized for the 10th time.
MBG has been rewarding agents who demonstrate exceptional customer service, consistent growth and profitability via the Inner Circle Program since 1993. To qualify, an agency must write a cumulative three-year uncapped loss ratio of 50% or less; show positive written premium growth in each of the last three years; and book a total current-year written premium volume of $500,000 or more.
Mutual Benefit Group is a regional property/casualty insurance carrier headquartered in Huntingdon, which has been providing coverage for autos, homes and businesses since 1908.

Aldi plans new store
An Aldi grocery store is coming to Huntingdon.
According to published reports, the store will be located in a remodeled space on the west end of the Huntingdon Plaza next to Bealls in Smithfield Township. An opening date has not been announced.

Women's Help Center gets $200,000 grant
The 1889 Foundation granted $200,000 in matching funds to the Women's Help Center for emergency shelter services.
Emergency shelter services are a haven for survivors fleeing violence in their homes and individuals experiencing a housing crisis. The shelter is temporary and free of charge and offers a variety of services that include developing a personal goal plan, case management, developing coping and anger management skills, accessing legal advocacy and assistance through the housing process.
The 1889 Foundation's grant to the center was matched by Cambria County funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Homeless Assistance Program.
