Tram Bar Co-Packing LLC, through the Altoona-Blair County Development Corp., was approved for a 15-year $2.25 million loan at a 3.5% reset interest rate through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.
The loan will be used for the construction of a new 30,000-square-foot addition onto the current facility located at Bedford Business Park One, 14 Commerce Court, Bedford. Construction on the $5,694,570 project began in November.
The company, which manufactures Kate's Real Food Bars, will retain 73 jobs and create 30 new full-time jobs within three years, according to a news release from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Groundbreaking for the project was held in November, said Bette Slayton, president/CEO of the Bedford County Development Association.
The project will more than double the size of the 20,000-square-foot facility that was opened in 2020, she said.
Demand for Kate's Real Food Bars "continues to soar and will undoubtedly be bolstered by Good Housekeeping's recent No. 1 ranking," she said, adding the growing demand requires more production and warehousing space.
According to the Good Housekeeping survey Slaton referenced, Kate's Real Food Organic Energy Bars, the variety pack of 12, was voted the best overall granola bars by the magazine's nutritionist, who said taste testers tried dozens of bars from a variety of companies.
