BEDFORD -- The 10/09 Kitchen restaurant at 132 E. Pitt St. soon will be closing.
A video announcement about the closure was made by co-owner Sara Letzo on Facebook.
"At this time we need to pursue other opportunities," she stated.
Letzo said the couple are ready to close this chapter of their lives, though they are sad as customers have become family.
"It is the right decision. ... It is time to move onto something else," she stated in the video.
Letzo and her husband, Nick, purchased the building in March 2013 and opened for dinner on
June 25. The name of the restaurant is their wedding date.
The restaurant will remain open through the end of January with limited hours, Sara Letzo said.
"We have left open the possibility of catering in the future," she said.
Local officials are sad to hear the restaurant will be closing.
"We are certainly sad to hear of the closing of 10/09 Kitchen. The business that Nick and Sara built was part of a vibrant culinary community here, and it will be missed. At the same time, every ending is also a beginning, and we wish the Letzos every success in their new endeavors," said President/CEO Kellie Goodman Shaffer of the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce.
The Letzos have not disclosed their future plans.
Opportunities exist for restaurants in Bedford County, Goodman Shaffer said.
"For entrepreneurs dreaming of opening a restaurant, Bedford County is a great place to consider. In addition to the 10/09 space in downtown Bedford, there are other wonderful opportunities in properties that were Ed's Steak House, Slick's Ivystone and the Twisted Trout, just to name a few. We're excited to see what could be in the future for the Bedford County restaurant scene," Goodman Shaffer said.
