New hires and promotions
Leann Cruse, a registered nurse, has been promoted by Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, to cardiovascular division Manager, where she will oversee the daily operations for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, Cardiac Function Lab, EKG department and Vascular Lab. Cruse will continue to work on maintaining the IAC accreditation for the ECHO and Vascular Lab, as well the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation certification for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
Adam Fry has been named as vice president and group leader at Mueller Associates, an engineering firm in Baltimore, Md.
Fry, a 1996 graduate of Altoona Area High School and 2001 graduate of Penn State, joined Mueller 20 years ago. He is an electrical engineer with extensive experience in projects for universities, museums, performing arts centers, and historic properties.
Dr. Dinesh Sharma, who specializes in invasive and interventional cardiology, has joined Conemaugh Physician Group-Cardiology and will provide outpatient care in Johnstown. A native of Cleveland, Sharma graduated from Ohio State University and completed his medical education at A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo.
Awards and honors
Alaina Heeter, a registered nurse, has been awarded Conemaugh Nason Medical Center's Amber Port Memorial Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship was established in 2020 in memory of Amber Port, nurse manager.
An Imler native and Mount Aloysius College graduate, Heeter joined the Roaring Spring hospital as a registered nurse in 2014 and provides care to patients in the intensive care unit. She pursued her education while working full time and will complete her studies at Maryville University in December to become a family nurse practitioner.
Jungwoo Ryoo, professor in information sciences and technology at Penn State Altoona, has been selected to receive the 2022 University of Missouri Kansas City School of Computing and Engineering Alumni Achievement Award.
Ryoo, who is also head of Penn State Altoona's Division of Business, Engineering and Information Sciences and Technology, completed his undergraduate and master's degrees at UMKC.
