WTAJ announced Monday that Matt Alvarez has been named co-anchor of WTAJ News evening newscasts.
Alvarez is an Edward R. Murrow award winner and Emmy-nominated journalist with 15 years of experience in broadcast journalism.
He worked as a news reporter in Nashville and New York, where he reported from the shores of New Jersey when Superstorm Sandy made landfall. Also, while in New York/New Jersey, Alvarez uncovered a national security flaw at Newark Liberty Airport, a story that garnered him an Emmy nomination.
His duties as WTAJ co-anchor, joining Amanda Kenney, begin Aug. 17.
Alvarez is a graduate of Robert Morris University, where he earned a degree in communications. He is a native of Camp Hill.
"I'm excited to enter the next chapter of my broadcast career with the talented journalists and staff at WTAJ," he said. "I'm also thrilled to return to my home state and serve the viewers of central Pennsylvania."
