UOC providing telehealth
University Orthopedics Center has launched a telehealth appointment system.
"We want to make sure that the people who need our care are able to get it safely and securely," Dr. Greg Bailey, UOC chairman, said. "While this doesn't eliminate the need for in-person appointments, it does allow us to reduce the number of people coming into our facilities,."
To make use of the telehealth system, patients need access to a smartphone or webcam-equipped computer and a strong internet connection.
Once booked in for an appointment, they can click a link to access a secure, HIIPA-compliant virtual waiting area, where they can check-in and wait for their physician to initiate their appointment, all from home.
New patients and conditions should expect their initial appointment to be conducted in person.

M&T Bank funds PPP loans
M&T Bank has approved Payroll Protection Program loans for 1,015 businesses in the Altoona/Harrisburg region, totaling more than $226 million.
The money will help businesses in the region keep employees on their payrolls during the COVID-19 outbreak and resulting economic hardship.
In all, M&T Bank funded PPP loan applications for 27,711 businesses in its mid-Atlantic and Northeast footprint, totaling more than $6.4 billion. The bank successfully processed more than 96 percent of the eligible applications it received throughout the footprint. Forty-five percent of the bank's approved loans are for $50,000 or less -- meaning many small businesses will benefit from the program.
