State winner advances to nationals
The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts and the Blair County Conservation District announced the seventh- to ninth-grade winner of the 2026 "Soil. Where it all Begins" statewide poster contest is from Blair County.
To celebrate the incredible power of soil to support life in all its forms, students from kindergarten through 12th grade entered posters conveying their thoughts and ideas through original artwork.
"The creativity and thoughtfulness demonstrated by this year's participants highlight the importance of soil as the foundation of life," said Amy Brown, PACD Executive Director. "We are proud to recognize these students for using their artistic talents to inspire others to protect one of our most valuable natural resources."
The contest winner is Emma Rickabaugh, from Tyrone Christian Academy, won first place in the BCCD local contest which qualified her for the PACD State Poster Contest.
Her poster creatively and beautifully shows the importance of soil health in many facets of life.
Emma's poster will represent Pennsylvania in the national poster contest, with winners being announced in February.
As these young artists develop, their contributions today pave the way for tomorrow's innovative solutions to preserve local habitats.
