Technology Student Association Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee, concluded the first week in July, and area schools placed in numerous events.

The Northern Cambria Middle School team of Maya Freidman and Joel McCombie were national champions in Junior Solar Sprint, with St. Nicholas Catholic School finishing in second (Amelia Kline and Lance Ludwig) and Windber Middle School in third.

In this event, students design a solar-powered car, create a display box and create drawings and explain their design process.

This was the second time in three years that Maya Friedman was national champion in this event. These students work hard over the course of the school year, staying after school and coming in during the summer to work on their project.

In Structural Engineering, Delilah Nave and Zach Cavallo, placed third, which was an improvement to their sixth place last year.

In this event, students design a structure out of balsa wood to efficiently hold as much weight as possible.

This is the fourth team to place in the top 10 in the nation in the past five years from NCHS.
